Content security specialist Clearswift is to build a
number of highly secure messaging gateways for Nato’s Messaging
System (NMS). These are designed to allow secure military messaging
between Nato and non-Nato nations and operational
forces.
Clearswift will work for EADS Defence and Security Systems to
implement Clearswift DeepSecure, which adheres to high military
security standards.
DeepSecure can prevent eavesdropping; offers a full message
audit trail; can dispose of signed and encrypted messages, and has
advanced content scanning facilities.
Dai Williams, Nato business development manager for EADS Defence
and Security Systems, said, "Clearswift’s DeepSecure was the
preferred solution that met the demanding requirement of the
complex NMS Project.
"Their solution is the only one that will adhere to the
mandatory EAL 4 requirement, which was key to Nato."
The contract comes as the Ministry of Defence prepares this
quarter to name the IT supplier that will win a £4bn contract to
overhaul its IT infrastructure.
Two consortia led by EDS and Computer Sciences Corporation are
in the running.
