Unisys has announced that Lawrence Weinbach will
relinquish his position as the company's chief executive
officer next January.
He has given up his president's title to Joseph McGrath, who has
also been promoted to the position of chief operating officer.
McGrath will take over the company's day-to-day operations.
Weinbach will continue as chairman until January 2006. He has
headed the computer services company since September 1997.
"There are no external plans driving the changes," said
spokeswoman Elizabeth Douglass. "Larry turns 65 in January and his
contract is up."
She said no external search has yet been started to fill the CEO
position, and that George Gazerwitz has been named vice
chairman.
Gazerwitz will also take on responsibility for a number of
special projects, in addition to his usual duties leading the
company's systems and technology practice. He had been corporate
executive vice president and president for systems and
technology.
McGrath joined Unisys in January 1999 as senior vice president
of major accounts sales and chief marketing officer and, since that
time, has held a number of key positions, most recently as
president of the company's enterprise transformation services.
