BCS president Wendy Hall has been appointed to the Council
for Science and Technology by Tony Blair.
The council is described as the government's top-level advisory
body on science, engineering and technology policy. It advises the
prime minister and the first ministers for Scotland and Wales on
issues of strategic importance.
Hall, professor of computer science at Southampton University, is
one of 16 new council members who come from the scientific
community, business and charities.
BCS external relations director Mike Rodd was appointed to the Home
Office Science and Technology Reference Group.
