IBM yesterday released two previously announced Lotus
additions to its midmarket line of Express software
products.
Intended for use in organisations with up to 1,000 employees,
IBM Lotus Domino Collaboration Express and IBM Lotus Domino Utility
Server Express offer simplified installation and fewer
administrative options than IBM's full-strength Domino
products.
Domino Collaboration Express includes messaging server software
supporting e-mail, scheduling, discussion forum and collaboration
applications. The bundle offers several choices for end-user
messaging applications, including IBM's Lotus Notes, Domino Web
Access (formerly called iNotes) or Domino Access for Microsoft
Outlook.
Available through IBM's channel resellers, Domino Collaboration
Express' expected retail licensing price is $119 (£74) per user. A
discounted, $89.25 per user retail price is available to customers
switching from rival messaging products. Purchases are capped at
1,000 licences.
Domino Utility Server Express allows access to collaboration
applications through a web browser or separately purchased Lotus
Notes client. The software's retail price is $5,000 for a licence
covering two CPUs. Licences are available to organisations with up
to 1,000 employees.
