Business applications vendor JD Edwards is reshuffling its senior
management team, a move that includes the exit of the company's
chief operating officer.
The company announced that along with optimising its global
organisation and streamlining the executive chain of command, it is
eliminating the position of chief operating officer, a position
occupied by Hank Bonde.
The company claimed the changes would make JD Edwards more
responsive to key markets and give it a stronger focus on meeting
customer needs.
Bonde, 56, was with the company for just under two years. Before
that, he was the president and chief executive officer of Tachyon,
a broadband satellite services company.
"The changes announced today are an important step in achieving
these goals and are symptomatic of our commitment to creating an
organisation that continually creates improved opportunities for
all our stakeholders," said JD Edwards chief executive officer and
president Bob Dutkowsky.
Effective immediately, seven executives who reported to Bonde will
now report to Dutkowsky, primarily from the customer-facing parts
of the organisation, including sales, service and marketing.
"Consolidating the management team under this reporting structure
makes JD Edwards more effective on multiple levels," said
Dutkowsky. "We are now better equipped to identify and exploit
opportunities in our target markets. We will realise tighter
alignment among sales, services, marketing, product management and
software engineering."
As part of the restructuring, all research and development
operations for software engineering will be under a single
organisational unit.
