On-line auction site,
Hoora.com went live last month offering users the
unique opportunity to bid for last minute deals on top IT training
courses.
According to Georgie Tanner, business development manager of
Hoora.com, the service makes it easier and more economical for
people to keep their skills up-to-date.
"The Hoora approach means contractors and freelancers will be
able to keep up with their certification route, stay abreast of new
releases and develop new skills as and when they need them," she
says. "Also, because the auctions take place at the last minute,
Hoora.com will enable people to book training when a gap appears in
their work schedule - and save money."
All courses auctioned on the site are instructor-led and are run
by certified training providers such as Aris Education, Interquad
and Novell. They range in subject matter from word-processing to
databases, operating systems, networking and mainframes, and are
made available to bidders one week before they actually start.
So that users can ensure they select the right program for their
level of skill and knowledge, Tanner says the site features
detailed descriptions of each course and pre-requisite checklists.
Information on certification routes is also provided.
Other features of the site include an on-line community for IT
contractors which is being developed to provide industry news,
financial and legal advice, and directories of agencies and job
sites, and links for organising rail journeys, flights, road travel
and last minute hotel accommodation.
