Selfridges outsources IT to Cap GeminiSelfridges, London's world famous shop, has signed a £5m
outsourcing contract with Cap Gemini, which will see all the
store's IT systems managed from a Cap Gemini datacentre in Bristol.
The five-year deal will see the transfer of existing IT operations
from a facility in Leicester, which Selfridges shared with Sears
Group. Cap Gemini is promising to support the development of
sophisticated customer relationship management and supply chain
technology for the store.
Home Office appoints legal adviser to IT 2000
The Home Office has appointed CMS Cameron McKenna as legal
adviser to its delayed and troubled IT 2000 project. The £250m
public finance initiative project is to provide IT infrastructure
and business services, including upgrading voice and data
networks.
SGI to host Millennium Map
SGI has won a £330,000 contract to host the Millennium Map, the
online archive of UK aerial photographs produced by the Millennium
Mapping Company. The contract is for the provision of SGI Origin
2000 to manage the database and an SGI Origin 200 to host the
Internet site, plus Oracle database software and additional
software from SSA Softwright.
Ladbrokes takes on Openbet system
Ladbrookes International has staked £500,000 on Orbis' Openbet
online gambling system for its new £5m Internet and telephone
betting operation based in Gibraltar. The Openbet system provides a
secure, scalable, robust, multi-lingual and multi-currency platform
system capable of handling millions of bets and hundreds of
thousands of account holders.
MDIS wins contract with NHS trust
MDIS has won a £170,000 contract with Worthing Priority Care NHS
Trust to supply an integrated personnel and payroll human resources
system. The new system will operate on the Trust's Windows NT
system and Oracle database.
Ford chooses Kalamazoo to centralise IT system
Quartic Group, the UK's largest Ford-only dealer, has chosen
Kalamazoo International to centralise its IT systems onto a central
server. Under the £500,000 contract Kalamazoo has brought together
three separate dealer management systems on a single IBM RS/6000
server.
