MI5 is looking for a Chief Scientific Adviser to provide it with up-to-date technology advice.
The Security Service wants someone with "world class scientific expertise" to lead and co-ordinate the scientific and technological work of the organisation, but is only asking them to work two to three days a week.
This is despite the level of responsibility that would come with the role - the Security Service is responsible for predicting and preventing threats to national security. The advisor would have to be able to help identify new types of threats.
MI5 says it wants to ensure it "continues to be supported by excellent science and technology advice" by someone with a successful track record of managing critical projects.
