Reuters has awarded Fujitsu Services a 10-year £500m outsourcing contract to manage its internal IT infrastructure.

The deal is designed to save Reuters about £150m over the duration of the contract. Fujitsu will provide services for Reuters' 17,500 employees based in more than 100 countries around the world and will host the new IT infrastructure.

As part of the deal, a number of Reuters staff from around the world will transfer to Fujitsu.

The service will be supported by Fujitsu multi-lingual service desks in Lisbon and Kuala Lumpur. Datacentre services will be provided from Fujitsu facilities around the world.

David Lister, Reuters CIO, said, "This partnership will allow us to accelerate the development of our internal IT services, giving us greater flexibility to respond to the changing needs of our business divisions. It will provide technology appropriate to the needs of our people wherever they are working around the world."
