Tesco has reformatted its legacy supply chain software using tools from Micro Focus to enable it to run in the US, where it launches later this year.

The tools will enable Tesco to enhance its Continuous Replenishment application to run on both IBM mainframes and IBM System p AIX servers. This will allow Tesco to maintain a single set of source code for both the mainframe and Unix versions of the application.

In an interview with Computer Weekly, Tesco group IT director Colin Cobain said the application was important because it would allow the retailer to leverage its existing mainframe application worldwide.
