IBM to shed 600 European jobs

IBM has become the latest of the large IT suppliers to announce cutslosses at its European operations.

IBM has become the latest of the large IT suppliers to announce job losses at its European operations.

IBM’s business services division plans to axe almost 600 jobs in Germany. The news comes after Sun Microsystems last month announced a further 100 job cuts in its software division as part of an ongoing 3,600 redundancy programme worldwide, in response to poor sales.

Sun staff in the UK and Ireland were among those affected by job cuts

Hewlett-Packard made over 600 redundant last year, and recently announced it planned further job cuts in an attempt to improve its bottom line.
