Retailer House of Fraser has chosen Mitel Networks to roll out an IP communications network across its stores.

The solution comprises Mitel Networks 3300 Integrated Communications platforms along with a range of IP phones and management tools.

“As a pioneer in retail networking, House of Fraser has a proven track record of investing in ICT to improve business processes and enhance the customer experience,” said House of Fraser network infrastructure manager Andrew Darley.

“Through working with Mitel Networks, we have the ability to deploy a solution that reduces operating costs while improving network efficiency and scalability. We have also taken the necessary steps to future-proof our network for the delivery of new applications and services to our customers and employees.”

Over the course of the next year, House of Fraser will implement Mitel Networks IP communications solutions across its 50 stores throughout the UK. Cost reductions will come in a number of areas, including the routing of voice traffic across the wide area network, a single infrastructure for wired and wireless devices, reduced cabling costs and increased flexibility in the provisioning of new voice and data services.

The initial phase of the project, encompassing 10 stores and a toll bypass network into four other core sites, has been completed successfully .
