BEA Systems' WebLogic Server 7.0 software is now available on Hewlett-Packard's (HP) Itanium 2-based servers, the companies announced.

WebLogic Server is available on HP's HP-UX 11i v 1.6 operating system, running on Itanium 2 servers. WebLogic Server 7.0 includes integration and business process management facilities that help speed development and deployment of applications.

By bringing the software over to new systems, customers and system integrators will be able to integrate legacy and web-based applications faster.

HP introduced HP-UX 11i v 1.6 in July as a Unix operating environment for Intel's Itanium processors. It will make the transition to Itanium systems faster and easier, because it is compatible with both older PA-RISC and Itanium-based systems.
