General Dynamics bags £170m US Air Force communications deal

The US Air Force has awarded General Dynamics an open contract worth up to $260m (£170m) for battlefield communications system.

The US Air Force has awarded General Dynamics an open contract worth up to $260m (£170m) for battlefield communications system.

The Theatre Deployable Communications Integrated Communications Access Packages (TDC ICAP) is aimed at delivering secure voice, data and video messages via wireless, satellite and existing phone and wire line systems.

"In a military theatre requiring constant, reliable communication, TDC ICAP is the ticket to the show. It can be built from the ground up in the most severe conditions in a matter of hours," said Ron Taylor, vice-president of communications systems for General Dynamics Decision Systems.
