Tesco has reported that its technology plan for its banking operation is gathering pace, as it posted a modest 2.8% rise in UK sales.
Tesco's banking operation contributed 1.5% of the group's increase in sales for the third-quarter ended November 30.
Tesco's move to a full service retail bank will increase potential sales, with the addition of new services such as current accounts.
"Tesco Bank is making good progress in developing its own systems infrastructure, with partners now selected for both its insurance and banking platforms," said Tesco.
The retailer last month chose an off-the-shelf core banking system from Fiserv.
Separately, Tesco is hoping to strengthen its online shopping service. The company is planning to open stores that are dedicated to supplying online shoppers. No members of the public will visit the stores, known as Dark Stores, but staff will complete orders there.
