The Ritz hotel is issuing its staff with encrypted personal digital assistants to protect confidential information if devices are lost or stolen.

The PDAs are fitted with Pointsec encryption software, which locks the system if a device is inactive for more than 30 minutes. Staff can reactivate the device by selecting a series of pictures.
