Nutricia, maker of Cow & Gate baby food, has installed Cognos’ Powerplay and Report Net products to improve data integration and business intelligence across the company.
The project, carried out with business software firm Inca, included the construction of a datawarehouse and a major upgrade of enterprise resource planning systems.
Nutricia, which is divided into infant nutrition and clinical products divisions, made the move after struggling to extract useful business information for its two operations from an ageing ERP system.
The new system lets managers perform their own ad hoc reporting and “what-if” analysis, as well as providing access to third-party information sources. The software overhaul was also designed to improve mobile access to sales reports and to support the different reporting needs of the company’s sites in Wiltshire, Liverpool and Dublin.
