On Sunday 22 June, readers and their families are welcome to just such an occasion in Bushy Park, near Hampton Court, London, for the sixth annual charity walk organised by the City livery company for IT, the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists, which is the hub of charity-giving in the IT industry.
At the event several hundred people from across the IT community will enjoy a choice of walks, live jazz, cream teas and bouncy castle.
All money raised from the walk will go to the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists Charitable Trust. This leverages the expertise of IT professionals to help disadvantaged people in society.
This year the event has been broadened out to include all members of the IT community, and everyone will be most welcome. The event, strongly supported by Computer Weekly, will also be an excellent opportunity to meet a cross section of the 650 or so members of the WCIT and hear at first hand about the valuable services to IT-related education and charity this organisation performs.
As well as leveraging IT for the community by, for example, installing information suites for dying children in all the UK's hospices for children, the WCIT, the 100th livery company of the City of London, also organises seminars and events to help influence the influencers in IT-related matters.
