Antony Savvas

IT professionals should "step forward and play their part" to help bring about changes in the NHS, the Department of Health's acting chief information officer will tell the British Computer Society HC2008 health conference next month.

Acting Department of Health CIO Matthew Swindells will open the conference with a keynote.

He said, "Information saves lives, so information professionals need to step forward and play their part in creating an NHS that is founded on quality, evidence and empowerment."

The annual conference will take place at the Harrogate International Centre on 21-23 April.
