Google has launched an e-mail notifier for the Apple Macintosh operating system that allows users to be notified of new e-mail without them having to open a web browser.
The tool is designed for Mac users of the Google Gmail service. The service alerts users when they have new and unread e-mail via an icon on the desktop’s system tray.
The icon shows the new e-mail’s subject, its sender, and a piece of the message, all without having to open a web browser.
Users of the Google Talk instant messaging service for the Mac don’t need the new notifier, as this service already delivers new e-mail notifications.
