SMEs receive IP communications boost

Avaya and Juniper Networks have unveiled joint standards-based products to deliver IP-based communication for SMBs.

The products will be delivered as part of the companies’ global alliance agreements, and will combine Avaya’s expertise in IP telephony and Juniper’s IP networking and security prowess.

They encompass distributed IP telephony, secure IP telephony on any network, virtual contact centre and enterprise mobility. The products are intended to provide secure communications across distributed organisations that require mission-critical wide area networks to support voice, video and data.

The technology should enable SMBs to add enhanced security, intrusion detection and optimisation capabilities needed with the addition of new applications to their existing multi-supplier IP networks.

The products can be enhanced with add-on capabilities that include secure SIP communications, application assurance networking that monitors and controls real-time application traffic across a network, and Wan acceleration that optimises and compresses network traffic, enhancing real-time communications.
