NTeam project will build open-source alternative to VSTS

Antony Savvas

A team of developers has started a project to create an open-source alternative to Microsoft’s Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) software development platform.

Known as NTeam, the project is using existing open-source tools and applications, such as the NUnit and NAnt .net solutions, for its development work. NTeam will target developers at small and medium-sized organisations that want similar functionality to VSTS, but who can’t afford it.

The project is being hosted by Microsoft's gotdotnet developer site, so Microsoft might not seem too worried about the competition, particularly as VSTS is particularly aimed at large organisations.
