Comdex axed again

Comdex axed again

The main Comdex IT show has been axed again this year after a lack of interest from exhibitors.

The event, which was also shelved last year, normally takes place in Las Vegas in mid-November.

Comdex used to be the place where all the major IT products and innovations were launched, but large shows are under increasing pressure from smaller and more focused events.

The organisers said past Comdex attendee interest was still strong but that exhibitor enthusiasm wasn’t widespread enough to justify a show this year.

A Comdex for 2006 is still scheduled, but past enthusiasts may be sceptical about it ever returning.

Comdex’s usual mid-November slot at the Las Vegas Convention has already been taken over by other events, and the rival Consumer Electronics Show is stronger after getting the backing of an increasing number of major companies.
