Seventy-five per cent of UK IT managers believe they are not meeting all their regulatory compliance requirements and more than 50% do not expect to get a return on investment from spending on compliance, according to a survey by Dell Computers.
Forty-five per cent of the 1,030 IT bosses questioned said their costs had increased over the past two years as a result of compliance work. Organisations spend an average of 11% of their IT budgets on compliance, Dell found.
IT managers' main concerns relating to compliance were security (54%) and data back-up (52%). The survey also found widespread ignorance about compliance requirements.
