FirePass targets affordable remote access

Antony Savvas

F5 Networks has launched FirePass Controller, a remote data access appliance designed for SMEs.

The company said that the new FirePass 600 was based on its FirePass SSL virtual private network, and delivered a remote access solution at an affordable price.

The FirePass 600 is designed to give users fast and secure connectivity to the corporate network, enabling employees to access files, e-mail or any application from anywhere at any time.

Yankee Group analyst Jim Slaby said, "SSL VPN solutions like F5's FirePass product have already hit the mainstream at large global enterprises, driven largely by the technology's ability to deliver cost-effective, secure remote access to a wide range of applications.

"F5's new FirePass caters to the needs of smaller businesses, enabling them to realise the same benefits as larger organisations at an affordable price."

The FirePass 600 costs from £5,500.
