Hewlett-Packard has tied up with IP communications supplier Mitel to offer a service for deploying converged networks based on its Procurve networking product.

The two companies have said they will offer joint networking products and support designed to help users link voice and data networks to reduce infrastructure cost and complexity.

An early adopter of the service is North East Derbyshire District Council which plans to converge its 18-site network infrastructure.

It is using Procurve and Mitel to integrate voice and data system across 18 sites, including offices, sports centres and depots, to create a single network in a bid to make council operations more efficient.
