iAnywhere Solutions is releasing a free developer version of M-Business Anywhere, used for delivering web-based applications to mobile devices, and has integrated the software with its SQL Anywhere Studio database.
The Sybase subsidiary acquired M-Business Anywhere when it bought AvantGo about a year ago. The software drives the AvantGo mobile internet service, which lets subscribers view web pages on handheld devices.
Integrating M-Business Anywhere with SQL Studio Anywhere, a relational database for use on PCs and handheld devices, means developers will be able to create mobile applications with M-Business that sit on top of SQL Studio Anywhere, said Ojas Rege, iAnywhere's senior director of mobile solutions.
iAnywhere sells three versions of M-Business Anywhere. The developer version has the same features as M-Business Anywhere Application Edition, Rege said. The difference is that once an application has been developed, customers must buy a licence for the product before they can deploy it.
