Actuate has acquired data integration products developer Nimble Technology.
Actuate makes software for organisations wanting to create analysis and reporting applications.
The company said it will incorporate Nimble's XML-based information integration technology into its own Actuate 7 platform, to further Actuate's software's integration with a range of XML-enabled systems.

The combination of the two products is scheduled to be completed in six to nine months.
The technology in the Nimble Integration Suite will help Actuate customers create analysis applications tapping disparate data sources, such as databases, web pages, proprietary systems and data warehouses.
Actuate has 2,000 direct customers and several hundred reseller partners, in an array of industries including financial services, pharmaceuticals, insurance and government.
Nimble has 30 employees, 12 of whom will join Actuate's staff of 500 and will continue operating Nimble's office.
Analysts believe the so-called business intelligence sector of data analysis tools is one of the software market niches that is primed for consolidation.
Last week, Hyperion announced plans to buy Brio Software for $142m (£88m), days after Business Objects said it would acquire Crystal Decisions for $820m (£505m).
