Insurance giant takes on group CIO

Insurance giant AXA has appointed Francois-Xavier Quilici to the new position of group chief information officer. His key role will be to create and oversee an IT centre of excellence for the UK and Ireland.

Reporting directly to the group chief executive of AXA UK, Quilici will help set-up an IT centre of excellence for AXA's life, general insurance and health businesses.

The centre will develop new technologies and enforce standards across the UK group, which currently spends about £400m a year on IT.

Quilici has worked for AXA for the past 11 years in senior IT roles, including chief information officer in Italy, and vice-president for AXA's information strategy in France. Since January 2002 he has been a member of the AXA Insurance executive committee.
