The PC and server giant, which is renowned for the efficiency of its systems, relied in the past on a variety of from multiple systems management vendors to manage its complex IT environment.

The BMC solution will enable Dell to consolidate its IT infrastructure, reduce training costs, reduce its reliance on manual technical support for point solutions, and offer an overall reduction in support costs, according to Dell.

BMC solutions will cover application integration and management, backup and recovery, database management, network management, output management, job scheduling, security administration, server management and storage management.

"BMC software enables us to further reduce operating costs and continue to maintain high availability," said Dell chairman and chief executive officer Michael Dell.
