Yahoo pushes premium Web hosting services

Internet portal Yahoo has introduced two new GeoCities Web hosting packages aimed at advanced and small-business users.

Internet portal Yahoo has introduced two new GeoCities Web hosting packages aimed at advanced and small-business users.

GeoCities Plus offers users site-building tools, 25Mbytes of storage, file transfer protocol access and increased bandwidth for sharing photo and graphics files, the company said. The Plus package costs $4.95 (£3.48) a month, with a one-off $10 (£7.03) setup fee.

For small business users, Yahoo is offering its new GeoCities Advantage package, which offers 20 SiteWizard templates and advanced editing tools and 100Mbytes of storage. The Advantage package also comes with a domain name and up to 15 sub domains, as well as Yahoo Mail Business Edition, which provides five separate 25Mbyte mailboxes. Additionally, the small business edition has personal home page tools and scripting capabilities.

GeoCities Advantage package costs $19.95 (£14.03) a month plus a one-off $25 (£17.58) setup fee.
