Prudential offers Wap services

Prudential is the first UK insurance company to offer its services over a wireless application protocol (Wap) network. Prudential is following in the footsteps of fellow financial companies such as NatWest and the Woolwich in offering a Wap service.

Prudential is using a Vodafone network to carry the information to customers. Prudential's Wap site can be accessed by Vodafone customers and directly connected to the relevant call centre, after selecting from a list of services including insurance, pensions, savings and loans. Clare Chandler, Prudential Retail business development director, said, "We want to make sure our customers have access to our services while on the move, and that they don't have to rely on fixed PC access."
