VMware unveils vCenter Site Recovery Manager 4.0.2
VMware has released VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager 4.0.2. The new version is a maintenance release that resolves issues highlighted in previous Site Recovery Manager releases. One fix highlighted by the vendor is that if you are using vNetwork Distributed Switches (vDS) and are also using SRM, you can protect those VMs. According to VMware, you will need to have vCenter 4.0 Update 2 together with SRM 4.0.2 and you should have no problem protecting them.

IBM acquires data compression, Storwize
IBM has purchased data compression vendor Storwize. The privately-owned firm has more than 100 customers across Europe. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Citrix stock highest in more than a decade
Citrix Systems' stock has jumped to its highest in more than a decade, soaring up 18.3% to $55.99 after earlier hitting $56. The level is its highest price since March of 2000, on a split-adjusted basis. The stock has increased by 34.5% since the first of this year.

BDNA launches in the UK
IT Genome vendor BDNA has come to the UK's shores. Headquartered in Germany, the company's strategy involves two products: the Technopedia, an encyclopaedia of software and hardware products, and the IT Genome Center, which is a suite of products and services designed to eliminate unnecessary costs.

Datamatics partners with Ingres for VectorWise technology
Open source vendor Ingres has partnered with Datamatics Global Technologies. Datamatics will expand its BSS portfolio and migrate its core applications to the Ingres Database in its VectorWise technology.
