Rackspace releases OpenStack
Rackspace has debuted its open source cloud platform, OpenStack. It incorporates the hosting provider's code that powers its public cloud offerings -- Cloud Files and Cloud Servers. The project will also include technology that powers the NASA Nebula Cloud Platform.
Electricity boost for Interxion, Germany
Colocation data centre services provider Interxion said an additional power supply has been added to its data hub in Frankfurt, Germany. The facility is set to receive an additional 14 megawatts of electricity, which will increase the data centre's power availability.
Gartner puts Riverbed in pole position
Analyst Gartner has singled out vendor Riverbed Technology as having the most market share for the 1Q10 WAN optimisation controller Advanced Platform worldwide market, based on revenue. According to Gartner's report, Riverbed managed to hold on to its top position based on revenue in the Advanced Platform WOC category.
New range of virtual servers from Fasthosts
Web hosting reseller Fasthosts has unveiled its range of Virtual Private Servers (VPS), designed for the latest Windows 2008 R2 operating system. The company has also recently launched a virtual storage solution and Linux operating system for their new line of VPS. Based on Microsoft Dynamic Data Center architecture, all servers are compatible with Windows Microsoft and Linux operating systems, and include Intel Xeon Quad-Core processors and dedicated RAM.
Supplies Network selects Xsigo for InfiniBand fabric
I/O virtualisation vendor Xsigo has announced that Supplies Network has deployed its I/O technology to create a private cloud infrastructure. The computer and imaging supplier claims to have chosen Xsigo for its InfiniBand fabric. The firm's infrastructure consists of sixteen HP DL380 servers, VMware vSphere software, and 10 GB Ethernet connected storage.
