Hewlett-Packard has partnered with Microsoft, Novell and Red Hat to entice Sun users to migrate onto HP hardware.

HP said that in the past 12 months 400 businesses have migrated from Sun to HP. The partnership with Microsoft, Red Hat and Novell aims to simplify migration with a suite of services that provide proof-of-concept applications, initial assessments, application migration, implementation and total lifecycle services.

The Novell partnership gives IT departments a 50% discount on SuSE Linux Enterprise Fundamentals on-demand training and Red Hat is offering 25% off Red Hat Global Training.

HP has also worked with Microsoft to support new releases of Windows Server 2008 R2 and upcoming release of SQL Server 2008 R2.
