Demandfor permanent IT staff has outstripped demand forcontract IT workers, according to the latest research from the IT jobs board.

The IT jobs market remains buoyant, said the recruitment company.

Alex Farrell, managing director at the The IT Job Board, said: "In a turbulent economic environment, many would believe contract roles are in greater demand.

"It is positive to see the permanent IT jobs market remains buoyant. Employers continue to advertise permanent and contract positions and, despite the downturn, we are still seeing a great deal of movement in the sector at all levels."

In its survey the company revealed that 56% of 498 IT workers interviewed in January believed there was more demand for permanent workers during the current economic downturn.
