Video eyewear maker Vuzix is launching its latest design, the Wrap 920AV, at the Consumer Electronics Show later this week, which allows mobile users to watch full-screen movies via their portable media players.
The company said the Wrap 920AV functions with any media playing device with a video output and projects a virtual 60-inch screen, as viewed from 9-feet. The device, which also doubles as a pair of sunglasses, allows users to watch 3D video content while seeing and interacting with the real world, the company says.
The Wrap 920AV can be fitted with optional 6-Degree of Freedom tracking sensor and a stereo camerea, which Vuzik said could be used to enable users to overlay virtual reality with the real world, such as creating an annotated guided tour of a museum.
Vuzix CEO Paul Travers said, "From watching a Civil War video reproduction battle re-enactment on the actual battleground to walking through the streets of New York City with an animated virtual tour guide, the possibilities are endless."
