Security software firmMcAfeeand Adobe Systems are jointly
to develop software to protect sensitive company
information.
The software will integrate data loss prevention and digital
rights management using a combination o f McAfee's policy-based
data classification and Adobe's policy-based document
protection.
The application suite has yet to be named and will be available
on the McAfee website only in early 2010, the companies said.
The software will ensure access control is applied
automatically, based on the classification of the data.
The software will also enforce company corporate governance
policies to reduce the chances and cost of losing business-critical
information.
The two have also announced that McAfee is making its McAfee
Security Scan antivirus software available as a free download for
all customers installing Adobe's Reader and Flash Player
software.
Adobe has been forced to issue a number of
security patches after
hackers targeted the firm's Reader and Acrobat software as a
way of taking over victims' computers.
"Data breaches are happening all over on any mechanism," said
Malav Patel, group product marketing manager for McAfee data
protection.
"This partnership expands the scope of data protection to a
wider audience," he said.
