Nortel CEO Mike Zafirovskicould be on the move
within weeks, according to reports in theFinancial Timesand theWall Street Journal.
Zafirovski told Canada's
Ottawa Citizen last week that he had no interest in presiding
over any residual company, taken to mean a rump services
organisation that Nortel would be obliged to set up to support its
installed base.
He claimed that he had already received job offers from other
companies.
Originally hired from Motorola in 2005 and tasked with turning
Nortel around, Zafirovski's four-year stewardship will chiefly be
remembered for the vendor's inglorious
slide into bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, Nortel has shuffled its management in EMEA, promoting
Jayne Rees to the post of BT partner director.
Reporting to Mario DiMascio, vice-president of enterprise sales
in northern Europe,Rees, who has been with Nortel since 1993, will
take responsibility for driving the joint business strategy for the
vendor's lucrative contracts with BT Business and Global Services
UK.
