Oracle president Charles Phillips is in London today for the
launch of
Oracle
Fusion Middleware 11g, the foundation for its next-generation
Fusion Applications.
Phillips was in Washington for the US launch late yesterday
before heading to the UK to demonstrate the new infrastructure for
Oracle's Fusion Applications.
According to Oracle, this suite of business software will
combine the best features of existing products and those
acquired in 58 takeovers in the past five years.
The middleware is important because it provides the
infrastructure that will enable Fusion Applications to work
together in an integrated, services sharing way.
The release of Oracle Fusion Middleware (OFM) 11g will help
businesses lay the foundation for the Fusion Applications expected
in the coming months, with general availability set for 2010.
OFM 11g is aimed at enabling business to use new hardware,
software architectures and new technologies.
New capabilities in this second major release of OFM are aimed
at cloud computing, grid computing and social networking, above
all, integration.
Reports from the US said OFM can now provide identity management
services, web portal services, security services, services oriented
architecture, and WebLogic application server services.
Oracle said the aim of OFM 11g is to simplify the complexity of
IT, while integrating modern application infrastructure
requirements for SOA, cloud computing, business process
transformation, service-oriented security, enhanced collaboration
and IT governance.
