Subsea 7, a subsea oil and
gas engineering and construction companies, has rehired IT
consultancy Capgemini UK for the next three years
to support and enhance all its core SAP systems.
Some 3,000 of the 5,500 Subsea 7 staff use the
centralised ERP system for back-office administration, project
control and other applications in locations in the UK, Norway,
Netherlands, North and South America, Africa and Asia Pacific.
Graeme Smith, Subsea 7's project manager for the global SAP
project, said Capgemini had to beat two other shortlisted firm to
the deal. Its role is to maintain the basic SAP systems and to make
required enhancements to them, he said.
Smith said despite the global spread of locations, the databases
were centralised to provide a single view of the data
worldwide.
Capgemini supports Subsea 7 with its Rightshore delivery model.
This includes a dedicated team of SAP specialists at a Capgemini
application support centre in Mumbai, India and front-office
services at Capgemini centres in Aberdeen and Edinburgh.
Subsea 7 uses SAP NetWeaver with Business Warehouse, Enterprise
Portal and SAP Mobility, and includes modules for finance, HR,
payroll, procurement, materials management, production planning,
plant maintenance and project systems. The 2009 upgrade plans
include a move from SAP R/3 to SAP ECC 6.0, the latest version of
SAP technology.
