Logitech is set to cut its global workforce by 15%,
resulting in the loss of about 500 jobs worldwide.
The company, which makes peripheral devices for PCs, including
mice and webcams, has 3,500 staff.
A spokesman said the company has had "early indications of
weakness in quarter three", the results for which will be announced
at the end of the month.
He said, "Given that we expect the recession to last for
multiple quarters, we need to take action."
The company plans to reduce its 3,500-strong global workforce by
15%, resulting in about 500
redundancies. It is starting a consultation process in several
countries, and the spokesman added that the process is expected to
be complete by the end of this financial year, on March 31. The
results of the exercise, which is part of a wider
cost-cutting programme, will be seen in 2010, the spokesman
said.
