Cern’s atom-basher down until the second half of next year

Cern's atom-bashing Large Hadron Collider (LHC) may not be reopened until the second half of next year, after the accident that shut it down shortly after opening.
The Collider, designed to potentially tell us what happened during and immediately after the Big Bang suffered an electrical fault last month.
A resulting liquid helium leak caused extensive damage to the Cern system, and since then engineers have been working at the Geneva site on a plan of action to get the Collider up and running again.
However, the initial estimate of a spring 2009 re-opening has now possibly slipped to the second half of the year, according to reports.
