Oracle and Salesforce develop iPhone business apps

Apple has opened AppStore, the online shop for buying iPhone applications. Users running iTunes can use AppStore to download business, productivity, games and travel applications direct to the iPhone 3G. Enterprise software suppliers including Oracle and Salesforce have introduced mobile applications for the device

Oracle has developed Business Indicators, which allows CFOs to view the latest company financial trends and enables sales managers to receive alerts on sales performance and customer satisfaction issues. Oracle said the software can also be used by commodity managers to assess the viability of a supplier.

Salesforce has released Salesforce Mobile for the iPhone which allows Salesforce users to

view and edit records (accounts, opportunities), log sales or service activities such as e-mails, phone calls, and in-person meetings, and assign tasks and events to colleagues.

Typepad is a utility which allows users to post blog entries, while SlashID stores internet passwords and a number of expense management applications.
