Microsoft has completed the acquisition of Kidaro to boost its
offering to firms wishing to
manage virtual PCs across the enterprise.
The Kidaro deal will allow firms to optimise the performance of
applications on PCs and allow them to safely run enterprise apps on
shared machines.
This could include firms allowing employees to run personal and
business apps on PCs, and would support those firms allowing staff
to choose and purchase the corporate PC of their choice to
streamline procurement.
In combining Kidaro's virtualisation technology with its own
suite of desktop management tools - known as the Microsoft Desktop
Optimization Pack for Software Assurance - Microsoft will enable
firms to optimise their desktop infrastructure by providing
management capabilities for virtual PCs, streamlining deployments,
and easing application compatibility issues, said Redmond.
The Kidaro system allows firms to segment a machine's OS and
resources to support different tasks and roles.
