More companies are deployingcryptography and database securityto
protect their data, according to a survey of more than 6,500
information security professionals.
The (ISC)2 Global Information Security Workforce Study,
conducted by analyst Frost & Sullivan, found that 66% of
respondents had deployed cryptography and 65% had put in database
security systems.
The most widely deployed security technologies were firewalls
(92%), physical security (79%), intrusion detection (78%), and
identity and access management (73%).
Wireless and vulnerability management technologies, both
deployed by only 57% of the respondents surveyed, were outside the
top 10 technologies identified.
"Consistent with recent headlines that highlight great concerns
with data loss, this study suggests that companies are making
investments in this area, indicating a growing trend to implement
security beyond the perimeter," said John Colley, managing director
for (ISC)2 EMEA.
