Oracle has released Secure Backup 10.2, its tape back-up software for Oracle Databases and NAS storage devices.

The package helps automate tape back-up management with advanced features such as encryption, vaulting and dynamic drive sharing. They can also control access to back-up systems and data.

The software provides policy-based encryption at the domain, host, backup or tape level using AES128, AES192 or AES256 encryption algorithms.

Corporate data encryption requirements can be customised with tailored management policies including key type - random or user passphrase - and re-key schedule.

"Customers will be able to achieve up to 40% faster Oracle Database backup to tape using Oracle Secure Backup 10.2," said Juan Loaiza, senior vice-president, Systems Technology, Oracle.
