Topic: If server optimisation is the problem,
blade servers can be the answer
Time: 11.00am
Date: Live Wednesday 7 March 2007
Duration: 60 minutes
Description:
The growth of server blade technology has increased rapidly over
the last couple of years. There are many reasons as to why this is
so, not least among them the financial (savings) gains that can be
made.
Blade servers—which include one or more processors, memory,
storage and network connections—offer a way in reducing costs
substantially. The idea is that customers can place a high number
of blades into the chassis to create systems that are not only more
compact and powerful than traditional equivalent rack-mounted
servers, but can also offer cost savings. Furthermore the blade
servers slot into a chassis that provides a common power supply and
air-cooling system and they are usually hot-swappable
A company with a large number of servers across its estate with
locally attached storage could spend huge amounts in trying to
administer them. A blade rack is also an extremely effective way of
upping server performance without having to install an additional
server itself.
This webinar will show that blade servers can play a very
important part in increasing the cost effectiveness of companies of
all sizes. It will:

- Outline the relevance of blade server technology for all
companies
- Show the issues that end to be addressed in successful
deployment of server blade
- Illustrate the business benefits of implementing blade
servers
- Comment upon the cost and power savings that blade servers can
deliver
Format:
