Microsoft is
acquiring Dangerto strengthen its mobile
applications business.
Danger has 10 years experience in delivering applications in the
consumer space. Microsoft's Windows-based mobile business was given
a further boost this week, when
Sony Ericsson launched its
first smartphone equipped with the Windows Mobile OS at the
Mobile World Congress
in Barcelona.
Robbie Bach, president of the entertainment and devices division
at Microsoft, said, "The addition of Danger serves as a perfect
complement to our existing software and services, and also
strengthens our dedication to improving
mobile experiences centred around individuals and what they
like."
Danger provides services to mobile operators that allow
customers to keep in touch, stay organised and keep informed while
on the go through
real-time mobile messaging, social networking services and
other applications.
The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.
