The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) has
completed the first phase of a half-million pound project to
centralise its accounting andbusiness intelligencesystems.
The RNID has more than 1,300 employees, 300 of whom either work
in the finance team or use the systems to manage budgets and audit
donations.
The company had been using Forte financial software at more than
80 office locations but decided to standardise on a single package,
Great Plains version 8, so that finance information could be
accessed centrally from different locations.
Paul Breckell, director of finance at RNID, said that when
conducting audits, head office staff needed to query data entered
from several different branches, which took time and was
frustrating.
"It is now very easy to see how funds allocated to a particular
project have been spent," said Breckell. "We can also report by
many other ways: by region, for example by 'devolved countries',
which means Welsh fundraisers can see exactly what money is being
spent in Wales or by team, project or fund, which highlights the
fundraising teams, projects or funds that are working well or
underperforming, for example."
